Pin Brush - Works well for daily combing and fluffing out the top coat.  Daily brushing gets your puppy used to grooming.  Brush your puppy daily so they get used to you grooming and touching them.  i do send a pin brush home with every puppy.

Chris Christensen Big G Dog Slicker Brush - The best brush for daily combing and fluffing out the top coat.  Brushing takes about five to 10 minutes each day, depending how well your dogs sits.  I use this brush on my adult dogs that are used to being brushed and it works fantastic.  If you keep up with brushing ever few days, this is the only brush you will ever need again.

Rake - I prefer the Furminator rake which assists in removing the undercoat to help reduce matting.

Dematter - I like the furminator adjustable dematter tool for areas that are matted down.  The small tool head gives you more control and less pulling when dematting problem areas.

Comb - I use a metal comb that has the teeth close together on one end and spread more apart on the other end.  It works well for light matting and all over combing.

Nail Trimmer - I like the Casfuy nail grinder/dremmel for trimming nails.  It takes off small amounts at a time to reduce the chance of cutting the nails too short. It has the safety cap so all different size dogs can be trimmed safely.  Colors vary.  Check the RPM speed goes up to at least 12,000 rpm.

Scissors - I like the Moontay  professional dog grooming scissors set for a beginner set.  It is sharp and works great.  I have used cheaper inexpensive ones and they do not cut as well.  The straight scissors work great for overall trimming.  The curved edge scissors is great for trimming around the face, ears and feet.  The thinning shears works great for blending and thinning.  The chunker scissors works for thnning thick furry pets.  In addition I would recommend getting a 5 inch scissors for hard to reach areas.

Hair Clipper - I only recommend the Andis AGC2 UltraEdge 2-speed detachable blade clippers model # 22360.   You can alternate between 3400 spm and 4400 spm so it has all the power you need to get through all types of coats.  It is ok to but one of the newer versions with the increased spm. It would work just as well if not better.

Blades - I only recommend Andis Ceramic or Ultra Edge blades.  I use the 3 3/4 fc or 4 fc the most. There are other sizes available.  Longer cut blades only come in the Ulra Edge blade.  Ceramic blades are usually cooler and do not get as hot.

Blade cleaner - I recommend Andis Cool Care Plus. This 5 in 1 spray is a coolant, disinfectant, lubricant, cleaner and rust preventative.   Use this to spray on the blade to cool it down and lubricate the blade. Always clean the hair off the blade, disinfect and oil your blade after each trim.

Dryer - Never use a dryer that is meant for humans.  A pet dryer will cut the drying time down by about half the time. I have a PetACare dog dryer for my puppies. This dryer is quieter and has a heat option which is helpful to avoid the puppies getting chilled.

Dryer -I also have a  MetroVac Radiance for my adult dogs.  The Radiance is more powerful and dries the dog much quicker.  It does not have a heat option however it naturally warms up from the motor.

Dryer -  Another affordable option is the Flying Pig model Flying One dryer.  It has the same power as the Petavac dryer and variable speed options as the previous two  dryers mentioned.
