Week 1 Update: Hazel is getting better each day as a new mom. The puppies are nursing well and have more than doubled their weight the first week. Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) started at 4 days old and they have been doing well with that. They are scooting around on their bellies at this point. Eyes are still closed and will hopefully be open by next week.
Week 2 Update: Puppies are all doing well and gaining weight. The puppies are starting to scoot around now. Mostly to cuddle with each other or one of Hazel's stuffed animals. ENS is going well and only a few days left. All the puppies got their first dose of Pyrantel dewormer including mom. (They were not a fan of the dewormer.) Eyes are still closed but it won't be long now.
Week 3 Update: Puppies eyes have all opened their eyes this week. They are starting to move around better but are still scooting on their bellies. They are pretty laid back and appear to be very calm. They did well with the fireworks. No reaction from them at all! Sound desensitizing really helps with that.
Week 4 Update: This week the puppies transitioned to the large whelping box and have started the potty training process. They are walking around and starting to play with each other. Every now and then I hear them barking and see them wagging their tail playfully. They received their second and last dose of Pyrantel today.
Week 5 Update: Puppies transitioned into the garage kennel and were introduced to the doggie door at the end of this week. They are investigating the doggie door and using the step but have only peeked out the door. They are still nursing but are now starting to eat solid food also. They all had a spa day and got their nails trimmed and a bath.
Week 6 Update: Puppies are doing well. They have been doing well using the doggie door. The are starting to go to the bathroom outside. They received day one of the 3 day course of Fenbendazole dewormer. They are doing well on the solid puppy food however they are still nursing at times.
Week 7 Update: Puppies are using the doggie door well. They have been pooping outside with no accidents. They are doing well with going outside to pee. Sometimes it is hard to tell if someone had an accident or were the just playing in the water dish. They are getting used to sitting with me while we watch the olympics. It is so fun getting to snuggle with them all. Next week is pick up. Please schedule your pick up time if you have not done so.
